Great Woods CrossFit is proud to announce Katrina Christensen as our March Athlete of the Month. “Tina” has made incredible progress in her athletic ability and has shown that hard work and dedication always pays off. Read on to Learn a little bit more about Tina and her CrossFit journey.

When did you start doing CrossFit? Started CrossFit in July 2015

Favorite Lift? Dead Lift and Back Squat

Least favorite lift?  Squat Snatch

Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, military, interests, etc.).  I grew up in a small town in NH.  I rode horses and competed through college.  Attended to Stonehill College.  Married for 8 years.  We have  2.5 years old son and one dog.  I work for an auditing firm as a bank compliance auditor.

What were you doing before CrossFit?  Before CrossFit I was learning to balance life between family, being a mom, working full-time and struggled to fit exercise back into my life.  For exercise, I ran and did some free weights.

What were your thoughts after your first CrossFit workout?  After my first Crossfit workout, I thought air squats/front squat technique was super hard (haha).  Coaches and members were very welcoming.

What were your goals when joining CrossFit?  My goal was to get back into consistent exercise, improve overall health and loose the rest of my “baby” weight. Yes, achieved goals!

How have you achieved your goals or improved your fitness? Yes, achieved goals!

Has CrossFit affected your life outside the Gym?  CrossFit has definitely affected my life outside the gym.  I feel strong both physically and emotionally.

What is your favorite part about being an athlete at Great Woods CrossFit? I enjoy being part of such a great, supportive community and supporting others.  I enjoy leaving the gym feeling positive and completing new workouts/challenges each class.

What advice would you give to a newbie just joining Great Woods CrossFit? I would encourage anyone who has had the thought of joining CrossFit to follow through and try it.  The toughest part is walking through the door for the first time but I don’t think you will be disappointed!

Something you may not know about me?  You may not know that I enjoy going to the car races.
